Registrant Directory
The registrant directory can be used to verify whether an individual is currently registered and licensed with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia, and provides information on credentials and scope of practice. The data contained in the registrant directory is dynamic, pushed in real time from the College register.


Public information (and what is not public information) in the registrant directory
The registrant directory includes registrants’:
- full name
- registration status and practice type
- business address and telephone number
- gender
- languages (in addition to English)
- qualifications
- practice conditions, if applicable
- regulatory actions, if applicable
Note: If a physician has been the subject of disciplinary action by the College since January 2000, this is noted on the Regulatory Action tab on the physician's profile. Inquiries regarding disciplinary action prior to that date should be directed to the College.
The registrant directory does not include registrants’:
- licence limits
- open complaints or investigations
- matters related to the health of the individual
- action taken by a registrant’s employer
- a registrant’s licensure status in other jurisdictions
- email address
Note: Registrants who are licensed for independent practice are required to renew their licence in January of each year.


Public information regarding educational registration in the registrant directory
The registrant directory for educational registrants includes:
- full name
- educational registration status
- gender
- regulatory actions (if any)
The registrant directory for educational registrants does not include:
- business address
- telephone number
- email address
(Note: Educational registrants do not have MSP billing numbers.)
All postgraduates and medical students in BC training programs are registered with the College.
To conduct a search for an educational registrant:
- Enter the last name and first name of the educational registrant.
- Click Search.
- The results of your search will appear.
- Click on the registrant’s name to view more information.

Tips for searching the registrant directory
Basic search
To conduct a basic search of the registrant directory:
- Enter the last name of the registrant.
Note: If a registrant uses a middle name, the search may not return results. For best results, use the last name of the registrant when conducting a search. - Click Search.
- A list of names matching your search criteria will appear.
- Click on the registrant's name to view more information.
Advanced search
To conduct an advanced search of the registrant directory, not all fields are required to be filled.
- Enter the last name of the registrant.
Note: If a registrant uses a middle name, the search may not return results. For best results use the last name of the registrant when conducting a search. - Under Practice type, select either family physician or specialists.
- If you select Specialists, a list of specialties will appear.
- Under Gender, select either both, male or female.
- Under City, enter the city the registrant is located in.
- Under Distance, enter the distance around a postal code you are searching from.
Note: If you have already entered a city in your criteria search, do not put information in this area. - Under Status, select either actively practising, not practising or both.
- Click Search.
- The results of your search will appear. This search may take a few minutes to generate results.
- Click on the registrant's name to view more information.
