The multi-source feedback (MSF) component of the PPEP consists of different survey tools (questionnaires) which are sent to the physician’s medical colleagues, non-physician co-workers and patients, supporting a team approach to care. The objective of the MSF is to gather multiple points of view about the physician’s non-clinical competencies, such as those contained in the CanMEDS Competency Framework, e.g. communication, collaboration, management, and professionalism.
The Medical Council of Canada is responsible for the administration of the MSF component on behalf of the College and has signed a formal agreement to ensure that confidentiality is maintained throughout the MSF process. Individual questionnaire responses are anonymized, collated and analyzed to yield a report that, in addition to quantitative feedback, also contains narrative, free-text feedback from their raters, including patients.
