Dr. Bonnie Henry issued orders on November 7, 2020 specific to Fraser Health and Vancouver Coastal Health regions. Specifically, Dr. Henry ordered that there are to be no social gatherings of any size with anyone other than members of an immediate household.

Intranasal esketamine (SPRAVATO®) has been approved for use in Canada following a Notice of Compliance from Health Canada. SPRAVATO® is indicated for use in combination with an oral antidepressant (that is either a SSRI or SNRI) for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD) in adults who have not responded adequately to at least two separate courses of treatment with different antidepressants, each of adequate dose and duration, in the current moderate to severe depressive episode.

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC has posted a proposed temporary amendment to section 2-26 of the Bylaws under the Health Professions Act. The proposed section 2-26 of the Bylaws will will grant discretion to the registrar to defer the requirement for a resident – clinical associate to obtain the Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the delays in the administration of the qualifying examinations offered by the Medical Council of Canada.
