Notification of Bylaw Amendments: Section 2-24 and Schedule A

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC has posted a proposed addition to Part 2, Section B of the Bylaws under the Health Professions Act. The new section 2-24 of the Bylaws will allow international medical graduates (IMGs) to be registered on a restricted class of registration called the “associate physician class” to provide a much-needed service in acute care settings.

Notification of Bylaw Amendments: Section 2-16

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC has posted a proposed temporary amendment to its Bylaws in response to the postponement of the spring qualifying examinations offered by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, the College of Family Physicians of Canada, and the Medical Council of Canada.

Revised Practice Standard and Professional Guideline Published

The Telemedicine practice standard and Referral-Consultation Process professional guideline have been revised to clarify that patients who are referred to specialists via telemedicine must be adequately investigated and treated before the referral is sent.

An undercover operation reveals unlawful practice of medicine continuing despite previous court orders to stop

On February 18, 2020, the Supreme Court of BC granted the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC an order to enter and search a property in Vancouver where Ms. Maria Ezzati, who is not a registered or licensed health professional, was suspected of storing cosmetic medical injectables. The search was conducted on February 20, 2020 by private investigators accompanied by Vancouver police officers.
