College Bylaws updated
Schedule A and Schedule C of the College Bylaws have been updated.

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC has posted a proposed amendment to its provisional Bylaws. Due to COVID-19, the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE) Part II, College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) certification examinations were not offered at their scheduled times. In response, section 2-16 was amended on May 27, 2020 to add subsection (1)(f), which provides the registrar with discretion to waive the sponsorship and supervision requirements for provisional applicants who have completed a residency program in Canada in 2020 until the results are available from the next sitting of the MCCQE Part II and the CFPC or RCPSC certification examinations.

Dr. Bonnie Henry issued orders on November 7, 2020 specific to Fraser Health and Vancouver Coastal Health regions. Specifically, Dr. Henry ordered that there are to be no social gatherings of any size with anyone other than members of an immediate household.

The College is seeking public input to learn about experiences and expectations regarding physicians’ and surgeons’ use of: (1) social media; and (2) photographic, video and audio recordings of patients. Members of the public can participate in the survey here.
