Medical Assistance in Dying: changes to reporting requirements

As of November 1, 2018, new federal and provincial reporting requirements for Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) are in effect. All required provincial forms for MAiD must now be submitted to the BC Ministry of Health’s Medical Assistance in Dying Oversight Unit, which is the designated recipient of reportable information from physicians, nurse practitioners and pharmacists.

These reporting requirements are explained in detail on the forms and accompanying instruction guides, which can be found on the BC Ministry of Health’s website.

The practice standard Medical Assistance in Dying, as well as the accompanying FAQs document, have been updated to reflect the changes in reporting requirements.
