Important notice for applicants for registration, including graduating residents

If you plan to apply for registration and licensure to practise independently in British Columbia during the spring and summer of 2021, please note that the following timelines are in place due to the high volume of applications expected from graduating residents.

As a 2021 graduating resident, if your certification examination(s) (e.g. LMCC, CFPC, RCPSC) were impacted (delayed/postponed/cancelled) due to the COVID-19 pandemic, you may be granted a provisional licence which allows you to practise independently, allows you to locum, and does not require sponsorship and supervision until you are able to sit the next available certification examination(s).

If you are a resident graduating from UBC:

  • Please apply on or after April 1, 2021.
  • You will receive information regarding the registration process directly from UBC and the College shortly.
  • If you are not planning to practise in a hospital setting, you should plan to commence practice on or after July 1, 2021.
  • If you are planning to practise in a hospital setting, due to the availability of the documents required by your health authority for credentialing and privileging, you should plan to commence practice on or after July 7, 2021.
