Sale and Dispensing

We want your feedback: Sale and Dispensing of Drugs by Physicians, and Promotion and Sale of Products

The College, as directed by the Board, will be reviewing all practice standards and professional guidelines related to medicine and commerce. These practice standards and professional guidelines will be reviewed, in pairs, over the coming year.

As a first step, the College will be focusing on gathering feedback on the following two practice standards:

  1. Sale and Dispensing of Drugs by Physicians

    View the current draft here.
This replaces the existing standard, found here.

This standard has recently been amended by the College. Key changes include a revised preamble, and a new list of practice standards related to the selling and dispensing of drugs. The key principles in this standard have been developed in conjunction with other regulatory colleges in BC, so as to ensure health care professionals across the province are provided with consistent messaging and policies. The College is now evaluating the revisions made to this practice standard.

  2. Promotion and Sale of Products

    View the current draft here.

Although this practice standard has been reformatted to the new College template, no changes have been made to the content as of yet. The College is now evaluating the current version, recognizing that it may need to be updated since its last revision in May 2014.

The College is now seeking feedback from the public to assess whether these standards are clear, comprehensive, and appropriate. Please complete the following survey to share your feedback.

This consultation closes on November 2, 2018.
