Prescribing methadone is complex and requires appropriate training

Following the previous announcement in the College Connector regarding the removal of the federal exemption to prescribe methadone, the College has decided not to erect any new regulatory gateways. Accordingly, any applications for methadone exemptions received after May 19, 2018 have not and will not be processed, as this requirement is now redundant.

The College Connector is sent to every current registrant of the College. Decisions of the College on matters of standards and guidelines are contained in this publication. The College therefore assumes that each registrant is aware of these matters. Questions or comments about this publication should be directed to communications@cpsbc.ca.
